(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - crinum lilies - South Mississippi - Pierced Wonderings - http://www.piercedwonderings.com

One of the joys of owning this new-to-us-home is figuring out what all is here. Shortly after we closed, we were at the house, just kind of reveling in the fact that we now own this awesome house and all of this 1.25 acres, when we met the neighbor…who had also just closed on a piece of property, owned by the same folks we bought the house from, and wanted us to pay $800 for part of a privacy fence. We didn’t wind up paying because there’s just too much else we need to take care of, but he told us that the yard used to be quite the show place, winning yard of the month a time or two.

No pressure or anything.

We know we have a two magnolia trees as well as a couple of pecan trees, a pear tree, some cypress trees. We also have several clumps of crinum lilies.

I’ve seen crinum lilies around several places here in south Mississippi, and I had thought that perhaps I’d like to have some in a yard some day. It is a lovely coincidence that we have them at the house.

I was thinking about moving a few bulbs around to the front of the yard, but according to the above-linked article, I’m not sure that’s possible. I think I might be happy to leave my crinum lilies exactly where they are. I would, though, like to get some white ones to mix in with the pinks.

What’s blooming in your yard right now?
